READFIELD – Maranacook High School will present the musical comedy-drama “Fiddler on the Roof” by Joseph Stein, Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, at 7 p.m. November 18th through the 21st, and at 2 p.m. November 21st and 22nd. The musical, which opened on Broadway in 1964, takes place in Tsarist Russia in 1905. Kristen Levesque, Dean of Students chaperoned a group of Maranacook High School’s students, interested in politics and the environment, on Tuesday, November 10th to an event with Senator George Mitchell in Falmouth, Maine at Resources First Foundation’s Falmouth, Maine headquarters.  Senator Mitchell spoke about the importance of land conservation and Resources First Foundation’s efforts to connect the private land owner with conservation and environmental resources.

On Friday, November 6th the Acadia Team and its teachers were honored to host a ceremony for 31 people wanting to become United States citizens.  The United States Citizenship & Immigration Services along with Dan Holman, Sue Caron and Cindy Beane planned for a wonderful morning where 31 people from 19 different nations took the Oath of Allegiance in our middle school as part of a unit of study where Acadia students have studied Immigration, Maine History, and Genetics. Naeema O’Rourke, with the help of Ella Trefethen and Ruth Brosey, recently did a presentation at the Senior Cafe on Growing up in Indonesia. Naeema was born and lived in Indonesia until 2013, so she was able to share her knowledge of and expertise about the region. The senior citizens were impressed with all of the information that Naeema presented, as well as her confident demeanor as she presented to the group.
