On June 3rd third grade students from Readfield Elementary took a walking trip to the Readfield Historic Society.  It was an unforgettable trip back in time to experience what school life was like in the 1800’s.  A big thanks to all the volunteers who helped to make our student’s learning meaningful and memorable!

At each RSU 38 Elementary School, students in Grades 3-5 have the opportunity to participate in the Kennebec Valley Book Award Program. In the spring, students who have read at least 8 titles from the KVBA list play a challenge game to match each book with a set of artifacts. Students vote on the best book of the year and enjoy this special celebration!

Maranacook Community High School has announced its top 10 seniors for the 2015-16 academic year. Luca DeAngelis, of Readfield, is the son of Tara Wicks and Steve DeAngelis, is valedictorian. He enjoys nordic skiing and was a captain of his high school team. He is a two time individual nordic state champion and has represented Maine in many post-season ski festivals. Recently, third grade at Manchester Elementary School had the opportunity to build our famous simple machine projects once again. After learning all about our science unit, Push and Pull: Forces in Motion, students were asked to independently build a section of an amusement park, that incorporated three different simple machines of their choosing. Some of their products included: slides (inclined planes), elaborate dunk tanks (pulleys and levers), roller coasters (inclined planes and wedges), see-saws (levers), bumper cars (wheel and axles), and even corkscrew slides (screws).
