The RSU #38 School Board met on March 28, 2018 to continue work on the FY19 School Budget. Several items that were originally included in the FY19 budget have been ordered with funds from the FY18 budget. (These funds were made available as a result of the unanticipated increase in tuition fees as set by the state and by changes in staffing.) As a result of these early purchases we were able to reduce the FY19 budget by $10,313.00, a reduction of another .06%. To date there has been a reduction of $388,500 from the Original Request Budget. The following documents represent this reduction:
The RSU #38 School Board deliberated on various items in the FY19 budget such as the proposed elementary principal, high school social studies teacher, high school ed tech II to cover study halls, and the special education nurses. An additional topic for deliberation was athletic uniforms, which the Board eventually voted to cut from the budget resulting in a reduction of $10,600 from the FY19 budget.
The next RSU #38 School Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Budget deliberations will continue at this meeting and there will be a sign-up sheet for citizen comment.
The RSU #38 School Board will adopt the FY19 School Budget at the School Board meeting to be held at Maranacook Community High School at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, April 10. Please make every effort to attend these meetings.
