Maranacook Community Middle School Advisee Day Out 7th grade activities included groups helping out folks in the community with yard work and stacking wood. Ms. Bonnevie’s Advisee Group helped out Don & Nancy Taylor of Mount Vernon.  Here is their response to the group: “This is for the fabulous group that stacked two cord of wood and moved an amazing amount of sawdust and plants needing to be “relocated”!” From Don & Nancy Taylor, Mount Vernon. “And, Bonnie is exhausted from the entertainment.”

On Friday, 10/26/18, the 8th graders went to Kennebec Valley Community College to participate in Junior Achievement for the day. Junior Achievement is a national program where business and community volunteers share a curriculum about career and future planning with students. The purpose of the program is to inspire and prepare students for success in the global economy, as they grow towards adulthood. Thank you to Kennebec Savings Bank for helping the 8th graders in the Junior Achievement Activities!

On Wednesday, Acadia Team went on a field trip to the Readfield cemetery to learn more about the town’s history.

Bike Club is a new activity offered to students to work on donated bikes that have been neglected. This club will meet daily, during Activity A, to rebuild them into bikes that kids can keep.  Planned after school rides will be scheduled to meet club demands. Mrs. Frohmberg and occasionally Mr. Sirois will be running the club. If you have a bike that you would like to donate to the club send a photo of the bike to Mrs. Frohmberg to see if it is a good fit…

On Friday, 10/5/18 our Chamber Choir sang at the American Choral Directors Association conference in Windham, ME. Our students were fantastic- thank you, Mr. Scarpone!

MCMS and MCHS student representatives, Shylah Woodford and Emily Lucas attended a statewide student leadership conference, run by GEAR UP, on October 13, 2018 and October 14, 2018. They spent the weekend building their leadership skills and learning about teamwork. Shylah and Emily were amazing throughout this entire conference and even won the two closing awards, including the Conference Enthusiasm Award!
