Maranacook Community Middle School Athletics

A current physical, within the last 2 years, must be on file in the Middle School Wellness Center to be able to participate in any sport.

The following must be completed before participating in co-curricular activities at Maranacook Middle School:

  • A current physical within the past two years and on file in the middle school Health Center.
  • A signed school contract on file in the AD office. The contract can be found in the Co-Curricular Handbook.
  • Proof of insurance on the school contract.
  • Emergency Card completed.

Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, Field Hockey, Baseball and Softball will consist of one team made up of 8th and 7th graders (6th graders may participate in these sports if numbers permit). Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball will have an 8th grade team and a 7th grade team (6th graders may participate on the 7th grade team if numbers permit). Cross Country, Alpine, Nordic and Track teams will not cut (6th, 7th and 8th graders may participate on these teams). Coaches of team sports will be looking to get quality playing time. This does not mean that all kids will be getting equal playing time during games. The goal of our middle school teams is to teach the proper fundamentals and techniques to prepare them for the next level. Wins and loses are not important…but a win is a bonus. Maranacook strives for all athletes to enjoy their sport this season so they will continue playing in future years.

6th Grade Tryouts
It is recommended that all 6th graders interested in athletics fill out the proper paperwork and have current physicals. If there are not enough participants to fill a team after the first day of practice then 6th graders will be given an opportunity to try-out for the remaining spots.

Sixth grade parents, if your son/daughter is not on a team this year he/she will have their 7th and 8th grade years to play.
