Maranacook Community High School had 4 students from Mr. Gower’s class compete in the State National History Day contest on 4/8/2017 at the University of Maine in Orono. Two of our students earned medals. Will Green won 3rd place for his documentary on John Lennon and Laura Parent won 1st place for her paper on the internment of Japanese-Americans in WW2. MCHS had their second Teen Issues day on 4/11/17. Teen Issues occurred in the afternoon, with a kick off presentation by Dr. Mykee Fowlin, who talked with the student body about relationships, bullying, and courage. Fowlin’s mission is┬áto create an atmosphere of worldwide inclusion, not just tolerance, towards all people. After the opening speaker, students broke out into small sessions that focused on relationships.
