Maranacook Community High School student Steven White, with support from Student Senate, has put together a Memorial Day tribute. Near the flagpole in the Bus circle are 211 flags. Each flag represents 20 soldiers from Maine who died in war since World War One. We thought folks might want to know why the flags are there and what they represent. On Friday, April 28th, two senior English classes went to Portland for a workshop at the Telling Room, a nonprofit writing center in Portland dedicated to the idea that children and young adults are natural storytellers. The Telling Room’s teacher artists led students in looking at photography, then brought them throughout the Old Port to take photos of their own and capture details.
