On Friday, April 28th, two senior English classes went to Portland for a workshop at the Telling Room, a nonprofit writing center in Portland dedicated to the idea that children and young adults are natural storytellers. The Telling Room’s teacher artists led students in looking at photography, then brought them throughout the Old Port to take photos of their own and capture details. Back at the Telling Room, students were led in a workshop to develop writing based on their images.
This trip was funded through the Maranacook Education Foundation’s student-run grant program. Students will continue to craft and revise their pieces and the finished products will be on display at Humanities Night.
