How many fruits and vegetables have your kids eaten today?

As part of our efforts towards health and wellness, we encourage you to support your kids in choosing healthy snacks each day. They need healthy snacks to help them grow, develop and be ready to learn. Ask your school’s 5210 Champion for healthy snack ideas, or check the Lets Go! website at www.letsgo.org.

Kajeet Mobile Smart Spots

The HS had 3 Kajeet Mobile Smart Spots that are available to be signed out to students who do not have access to the internet at home.  The Kajeet Hotspots are a great way to get homework done!  They have filters for internet content and shut off at 11 pm and turn back on again at 6 am!  You can sign them out in the Media Center.  Learn more at http://www.kajeet.net/kajeet-smartspot.

Kennebec Behavioral Health Services

Have you noticed that your child is having difficulties with friends, seems sad or may be struggling with school related anxiety? Do you wish you could help but don’t know how?

Maranacook is fortunate to have two fully licensed clinical social workers available during the school day to provide ongoing counseling services for students having challenges with their mental health. These confidential services are provided by Kennebec Behavioral Health through the School Based Health Center.

If you think that these services may be helpful for your child, please contact Ellen Turgeon, the school nurse at 685-4923 x 1033.

Maranacook Food Pantry at HS needs Backpacks!

Do you have any spare backpacks hanging in a closet somewhere? Are you replacing your child’s backpack for this coming school year, and looking to get rid of the old backpack?

Screen Shot 2016-08-12 at 7.26.06 PMWe need backpacks!

Please consider donating used backpacks to the Maranacook Food Pantry at the high school.

We send home food to middle and high school students in need and the easiest, most secure way to transport food items is in a backpack. If you can donate any, please drop them off at the high school office, or leave them at the school health center.

We appreciate any help you can give us!

Checking HOW Grades

Black Bear Boutique & Maranacook Food Pantry

Screen Shot 2015-08-26 at 11.11.59 AMWe are working to help students and their families cope with unmet needs for food and clothing throughout the school year. Our aim is to provide good quality, clean used clothing, as well as basic easy-to-prepare food items (canned soups & fruit, breakfast cereals, pasta & tomato sauce), which will provide some comfort and support so that students can concentrate on their academic responsibilities.

Young people concerned with the basic issues of hunger and access to suitable clothing cannot easily address classroom activities and assigned homework. We hope to help ease their distraction a bit through giving them access to our Boutique and Pantry in order to make them comfortable and help free them to learn.

If you do know of a student who could use some help, please encourage that child to contact us. We’ll be glad to help. For clothing or food needs, please contact our school nurse, Ellen Turgeon @ 685-4923 ext. 1033.
