Today (Thursday, 10/27) at approximately 1:30 pm the fire alarms went off at Manchester Elementary School. The students and staff followed all fire safety procedures and exited the building quickly and calmly. The Manchester Fire Department was dispatched and upon arrival, they swept the building and determined that it was a false alarm. Around 2:00 the Fire Department allowed all students and staff to re-enter the building. At no time were any of the children or adults in danger. I want to thank the staff and students for their prompt and orderly response to the situation.

The students and staff of Manchester Elementary School would like to extend thanks to the First Baptist Church Hallowell and Pastor Michael Longfellow for their generous donations for our "Nurses Closets"! The congregation collected much needed items for our school! We certainly appreciate their generosity!

Kids and teens love using the messaging app Snapchat because it lets you send texts, pictures, and videos that you program to disappear after a few seconds. But parents should be aware that it's not actually true that Snaps disappear forever. Learn more about Snapchat here at Common Sense Media.

To ensure safety for all, the circle in front of the school is for busses only between 7:15-8:00 AM and 2:30-3:05 PM. Parents are asked to park in the rear school parking lot (near Castletown) when dropping off/picking up their child during that time. Please note, our school day does not start until 7:30 a.m. (all exterior doors are locked until this time and students will not be allowed to enter until 7:30 a.m.!) Additionally, students may not be dropped off on the playground until 7:30 a.m. because there are no duty teachers until this time!
