Recently, third grade had the opportunity to build our famous simple machine projects once again. After learning all about our science unit, Push and Pull: Forces in Motion, students were asked to independently build a section of an amusement park, that incorporated three different simple machines of their choosing. Some of their products included: slides (inclined planes), elaborate dunk tanks (pulleys and levers), roller coasters (inclined planes and wedges), see-saws (levers), bumper cars (wheel and axles), and even corkscrew slides (screws). They did a wonderful job being hands-on and open minded in their creative building process and were able to put together quite a masterpiece to show the rest of the school!
