Due to a bus driver shortage and one of our regular bus driver out on medical leave, there is a necessary change to bus runs for the next two months. All students riding bus #19 have been re-assigned to our other bus runs. This will mean a change in each bus run and the timing of the run may be a change from what has been the regular schedule since the beginning of the year. It will likely take bus runs an additional 5-10 minutes to complete their runs. This change begins on Tuesday, October 9th.
During the upcoming holiday season, the school nurses will work closely with local food pantries, fire stations, churches, town halls, and community members to provide new clothing and toys to children who might otherwise not receive any presents for the holidays.
Recently, the school nurses sent a letter and wish list home with each student. If you need some support this holiday season, please complete and return the wish list by Friday, November 2nd. The earlier we receive your request, the more likely we will be able to assist you. If you need additional wish lists, please contact your school nurse.
In order to coordinate this program, the nurses may share your child’s name with a key person at one of the organizations listed above, but community members are given no identifying information.

It is with much enthusiasm that I begin the new year as the new principal here at Manchester Elementary School. Twenty-two years ago I began my teaching career right here at MES as a student teacher in the resource room!! What a welcome surprise to find myself once again in this highly respected, caring school community.
A brief bio of me: I taught elementary school for twelve years as a resource room teacher and then a teacher of grades k-3. For the past ten years I have been a teaching principal and then a principal of two elementary schools. As importantly, I am a parent of three grown children, two step daughters, two grandsons and more grandchildren in October!! Not to mention the dogs, cats, cows, sheep and one goat named Old Joe Gage! In essence, I am a seasoned educator and parent and a slightly experienced farmer.
I love the learning process and eagerly join the MES staff to ensure your children grow academically and socially/emotionally. Though it is still early in the summer, I am anxious and excited to meet your children and I look forward to working with families and teachers in the year ahead.

To ensure safety for all, the circle in front of the school is for busses only between 7:15-8:00 AM and 2:30-3:05 PM. Parents are asked to park in the rear school parking lot (near Castletown) when dropping off/picking up their child during that time. Please note, our school day does not start until 7:30 a.m. (all exterior doors are locked until this time and students will not be allowed to enter until 7:30 a.m.!) Additionally, students may not be dropped off on the playground until 7:30 a.m. because there are no duty teachers until this time!
