I Can Calm Myself Down

I CAN CALM MYSELF DOWN, I HAVE THE STRENGTH TO CONTROL MY EMOTIONS!

These busy second graders are learning how to regulate their emotions, handle frustrations, realize the control they have within. Tara Wicks, the school guidance teacher, holds 30 minute weekly sessions with these energetic young learners. Knowing how our brain works for us or against us gives better choices to our decision making.

These easy belly breathing technics can be done anywhere. You don’t need to spread out on the floor, but it sure was fun showing the evidence with an object slowly rising and falling as we took long slow breaths in and long slow breaths out.
