Id like to take a moment to share with you some of our most noteworthy accomplishments:
We are extremely proud of our communications with our public and customers (parents, students, and communities). Our Chalkboard is published several times each year highlighting a topic and how our school system addresses this topic. We have a very active Communications Committee of our School Board who regularly write articles for publication in our area newspapers.
Our Educational Technology is second to none! We have a technology faculty who keep our technology working well for use by faculty, staff, students, and community. We served as a Pilot Site for the Maine Learning Technology Initiative and are currently working with Apple Computer to find ways to expand this technology into our high school.
An active Professional Development Committee assures that our staff remain up-to-date on the latest information and coursework in education. They constantly survey staff and coordinate activities to meet the surveyed needs. Staff overwhelming proclaim that our professional development activities are one of the attractive aspects of working at Maranacook Area Schools.
We have a very active Assessment Committee that represents each of our schools as we strive to meet Maines Learning Results Timeline. Our K-12 curriculum is aligned with the learning results and we are currently piloting grade level assessments that will bring us into compliance with Maines Learning Results and No Child Left Behind.
Our schools actively recruit volunteers to work with our students and staff. Our motto has and will continue to be opening school house doors to our communities. Several schools have paid volunteer coordinators that encourage community participation in all aspects of the teaching and learning processes. Many of our schools provide After School Enrichment Programs that offer unique sets of opportunities for learning outside of the regular school day. Some of the exciting activities include gymnastics, French cooking, chess, cribbage, arts & crafts, and knitting, Visit each school's web site and click on Student Handbook to learn more.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy your tour of our website and visits to our schools. I look forward to your visit and please feel free to contact me directly if there is any information or question you cannot get answered by your visit.
Sincerely yours,
Richard A. Abramson
