Upcoming Changes to School Schedules

February 4, 2021

Dear Students and Families,

As you are aware during the month of December the Board of Directors conducted a survey with students, families, and staff concerning extending in person learning across the different school levels.  Those results were shared at the January 6 business meeting.  Information specific to our district was also shared with the directive that during the first business meeting of each month the information would be reviewed for future decision making purposes.

At last night's Board of Directors meeting the information was once again reviewed and discussed with a motion brought forward and passed.  The following directives and dates are being provided to you with this letter to begin the planning process:

  1. All elementary students (K-5) will be returning to in person instruction on Wednesdays beginning the week of February 22, meaning the first Wednesday in person will be February 24.

  2. The middle school (6-8) will continue the current schedule with the exception that Wednesdays will be moving to synchronous scheduling. The date to begin this practice will be March 10.

  3. The High school (9-12) will begin a Wednesday rotation for Cohorts A and B that will begin the week of March 8.  The first Wednesday to begin this practice will also be March 10.

There are many details that will need to be adjusted to plan for the increase to this instructional time.  Our entire school staff will be working to be ready for the targeted dates and you can expect future communications directly from your children's school Principal in the coming days and weeks.  I share this general information with you now so you can begin to plan accordingly within your family.

If you have questions or concerns I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher or the building principal as appropriate.  As we enter into this extended instructional time we will continue to follow all safety protocols that have been previously established through the course of this school year.  We look forward to the increased student contact and opportunities the time will provide to our learners.  Thank you for your continued support of our school community.

Sincerely,

James Charette

Superintendent of Schools
