Maranacook Area Schools/RSU #38

The Maranacook Education Foundation awarded 15 grants in November of 2023, and area students are reaping the rewards! One of the grants recently benefited Maranacook High School students when ambassadors from "The Telling Room" in Portland visited MCHS and facilitated a series of writing workshops focused on fiction and personal narrative writing. Students read poems that have recently been published by peers just like them. This form of modeling, along with games, gallery walks, and circle sharing, engaged students’ imagination and creativity before spring boarding into writing self-authored pieces. Writing with “The Telling Room” ambassadors enriched the lives of our students, some of whom will be future writers.  MEF was pleased to support this proposal brought forward by Juliet Tinckham in collaboration with Kerry Anderson.
