On behalf of the RSU 38 School Board, I want to extend our gratitude to Superintendent Jay Charette for his service to our schools, students, and communities. We thank him for the time and effort he has given to RSU 38 and wish him well in his future endeavors.
Effective tomorrow September 11, 2025, Assistant Superintendent Karen Smith will serve as Interim Superintendent. The School Board will also be working with Maine School Management to begin the process of a superintendent search immediately.
The RSU 38 School Board has full confidence in our administrative team to ensure the district continues to move forward during this transition. As always, our focus remains on supporting our students, staff, and families.
We expect all members of our community to use the proper channels for any questions or concerns. Doing so ensures that issues are addressed clearly, constructively, and with respect. It is helpful to everyone involved and keeps our district moving in a positive direction.
Most importantly, we remain united by our mission: “A caring school community dedicated to excellence.” This guiding principle will continue to shape our work together and ensure that RSU 38 remains a place where students can thrive and succeed.
