Dear Maranacook Community,

At last night's Board meeting, June 10, 2026, Shawn Roderick announced his resignation from the RSU 38 Board of Directors, concluding his service as a Board member and as Chair.

Shawn has served on the RSU 38 Board since 2014 and as Chair for the past three years. Throughout that time, he has worked tirelessly on behalf of our schools and communities, always keeping students at the forefront of the Board's work. His steady leadership, thoughtful judgment, and deep commitment to Maranacook Area Schools have left a lasting mark on the district. We are grateful for everything he has given, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors and in the time ahead with his active family.

Vice Chair Leslie Marco will serve as Interim Chair through the summer. The Board will elect a new Chair at its first business meeting in September. The Town of Readfield will appoint a new Board member to represent Readfield and fill the vacancy created by Shawn's departure.

About the RSU 38 Board structure. Under the district's 2009 Reorganization Plan, the RSU 38 Board of Directors is composed of thirteen members, with each of the four member towns electing representatives in proportion to its population. As originally apportioned, Manchester and Readfield each elect four members, Mount Vernon elects three, and Wayne elects two. Board members serve three-year terms. When a seat is vacated mid-term, the member town fills the vacancy—in this case, Readfield will appoint Shawn's successor.

Please join me in thanking Shawn for his many years of dedicated service to our students and communities.

Sincerely,

~Karen
