RE: Parent Updates
Good afternoon,
I’d like to take this opportunity to provide you updates from the previous few weeks here at the Maranacook Area Schools:
iPads for students in Kindergarten thru 4th grade have been delivered and our tech team has worked feverishly to prepare them for distribution. If you have a child in these grades you can expect information to arrive shortly about the take home policies for these devices.
I am extremely proud of our Middle and High School staff for the work they have done during our recent need to work remotely. They were asked to move quickly with little notice to remote means of instruction, which they did as professionals. I also commend them on the safety measures that we have in place that kept the virus from spreading. Today marks a full week back to in person instruction with no signs of Covid 19 spread. This is a credit to their diligence in instituting the necessary precautions!
As the weather begins to turn colder we are expecting your transportation plans may change. If you are planning a long term change please reach out to Julie Greenleaf, Transportation Supervisor at 685 -3621 as your first call to determine seating availability on your child’s bus. We will do our best to accommodate your needs but please know that our guidelines have not changed so there may or may not be open seating.
Ruvna, our daily Covid Screener is working well! We remind you to fill it out daily, even if we are in a remote situation. We want this to be a daily practice until Covid mandates have been lifted. If you have any questions about the results please reach out to the school nurse in your child’s building. As a rule of thumb with any fever your child should only be coming back to school after being fever free for 24 hours - let’s keep everyone healthy as we approach the cold and flu season!
Parent Teacher Conference season has begun and we strongly encourage you to participate in these virtual meetings! It is a great opportunity to not only review academics but to talk about your child’s learning style, strengths and weaknesses and to open up communication with teachers about learning expectations whether in person or working remotely.
Thank you to all of the communities that make up RSU 38! We have a flexible staff, hard working students and supportive families and as we navigate the creation of this new normal for education it is evident that everyone is doing their part to support learning. We look to “check and adjust” as we move forward so please reach out with concerns, suggestions, and questions! Please stay safe as we enter the typical cold and flu season and thank you for your continued support.
