March  3, 2022

Dear Staff, Students, and Families,

This announcement is to inform you that at last night’s Board of Directors meeting it was voted to make masking optional beginning immediately.

  • This means that masking is optional in all school building in RSU #38 effective immediately.

  • This decision includes transportation.

  • We will continue to follow the Maine Department of Educations Standard Operating Procedures concerning isolation and quarantining of covid-19 cases. Click here to see the current SOP.

  • Our Nurse Offices/Health Clinics will require students to wear a mask when seeking medical care or showing symptoms.

  • Masks (both surgical and KN95) will be available in all schools upon request.

  • You can track out county color by using the following CDC link: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/covid-by-county.html

As we have asked in the past, it is vitally important that you communicate with the school nurse around symptoms, testing, and exposure to positive cases (in and outside of school).  Your assistance is needed moving forward to continue to keep our schools open to in person learning.   Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Jay Charette

Superintendent of Schools
